Malta High School Academic Olympic Team Shines at Glasgow Competition
GLASGOW, MT— The Malta High School Academic Olympic team showcased their knowledge and competitiveness at the Academic Olympics on March 26, 2025. Competing against 80 students from schools across eastern Montana—including Sidney, Glendive, Glasgow, Plentywood, Chinook, Fairview, Wolf Point, and Poplar—the Malta teams demonstrated their academic talents in both written and oral competitions.
The event began with written tests in math, science, social studies, and English, where students had a chance to earn ribbons and medals for top 10 placements, overall grade division winners, and team trophies. The competition transitioned into the oral round, a fast-paced quiz format similar to Jeopardy, after lunch.
Malta’s team, consisting of Dawson Hammond, Brayden Rhoads, David Schaldack, Steeler Blunt, and Oslo Stenberg, put on a remarkable performance, advancing to the championship round. After an intense match, the team finished in second place, falling in a sudden-death tiebreaker. Additionally, the team placed in the top five for the composite written test score.
